Where does it live? Habitats and adaptations
Study the body features of plants and animals, from a yak to a lotus, and match each one to the habitat it is adapted to.
Core concept
Organisms have adaptations, special features that help them survive in their habitat
Topic: Living things and their environment
A habitat: The natural home of a plant or animal, like a pond or a forest. All key words is the place where an organism lives, such as a pond, a desert, the high Himalaya or a forest. Each habitat has its own challenges: too little water, bitter cold, or the need to swim, climb or hide. An adaptation is a feature of an organism's body or behaviour that helps it survive there. Nepal has many habitats, from the hot Terai forests and rivers to the cold, snowy mountains, so it has a great variety of adapted plants and animals.
